It's a surprise baby shower!

This Sunday was my first baby shower. The theme of the shower was "It's a surprise." The food, games, presents, and Baby Alvey all followed the theme of the shower. It was such a great shower and I can't thank the girls enough for everything. I am 31 weeks now and the baby is extremely active. I feel like the baby grows a little more each day. I am feeling good still and getting more excited each day about this baby's upcoming arrival.

30 Weeks! Baby bellies and Jenn's baby shower!

This weekend we went to Evansville for Scott's sister Jenn's baby shower. Here is our belly picture. It was great to see her. It was fun to be at her shower and see all the girly things she got for her twin girls.

Jen (due 9/26/09), Jenn (due 9/30/09), and Andrea (due 9/29/09).
This picture was taken at the shower. We are all due the same week. Andrea is Chad's (Jenn's husband) sister. It will be fun to see the kids together after they are born. Jenn is having twin identical girls and Andrea is having a girl too. We will have to wait and see if our baby will be another girl to add to the play group or the little boy trying to steal kisses from them.

25 Weeks

I thought I would post a 25 week update. The baby is growing and moving like crazy. The books all say that the baby should be about 1 1/2 now. I feel great and have been enjoying the beautiful weather. I go to the doctor next week for my glucola test and regular check up. We were excited to get our baby furniture in this past week. It took less than 4 week to get it all in and delivered. It is exciting to see it in the baby's room. We are planning on ordering bedding and registering this week.

World Cup Qualifier: US v.s. Honduras

This weekend we went to Chicago for the World Cup Qualifier Game: US v.s. Honduras. I never thought Scott and I would ever go to a US soccer game because neither of us have ever been interested in soccer. We decided to go with a group of friends since it was something we have never done and heard it was a lot of crazy fun. It was definitely a fun and crazy experience. Those Hondurans really get into their soccer and out numbered the US fans. The stadium was probably 75% Honduras fans. The US dominated the game and won 2-1. The only complaints were that it rained while we tailgated and it was only 59 F when we got to Chicago at 3pm. The temperature continued to drop from there. Overall a fun experience and a cultural experience.

The Honduras fans greeted each car entering the tailgating lot with music, dancing, and taunting.Soccer fans sport their flags at all time. Some flags are large, some are small, and some are huge.

We sat in Sam's Army section. This is a general admission section where all the crazy US fans sit or should I say stand. They stand the whole game while chanting and singing through out the game. Definitely much different from American football. This section is also dressed very patriotic. As seen in this picture we saw Uncle Sam in shorty shorts (remember game time temp was around 50 F).

Captain America was in attendance.
I did not get a picture of the Pilgrim, Yankee, Statue of Liberty, or the woman wearing an American flag as a tube top.

Full House.

The first US goal.

Last couple of weekends.....

We have has a busy last couple of weekends. We had our Indians game first base terrace suite three weeks ago. It was very windy and chilly that night. We had a good time hanging out with our family and friends. I didn't get many pictures but here are a couple.

We ventured out to the Indy 500 last weekend. It was supposed to be a mild temperature but ended up being quite warm by the afternoon. The morning started out pretty frustrating because we were stuck in traffic on 30Th street for almost 2 1/2 hours (to go about 3 miles) and never even made it into the in-field parking or the lots at the track. We ended up parking at church and walking to meet our friends in the in-field. In the grand scheme of things, the parking ended up working out better though.
I would just like to say that being at the track completely sober is an eye opening experience and everything is much grosser and trashier than I remember. I still enjoyed hanging out with our friends and watching the crazies but I could do without ever seeing the track bathrooms again. Especially since I visited them often since I have to pee so frequently. Our group did provide entertainment for many of the track goers though. Beside a full bar setup, our friend Billy provided the duel shot luge made of ice which ended up being a profitable spectacle. If you are wondering what is a duel shot luge, see the pictures below and all your questions will be answered. I am proud to say that Scott and I did not participate but did find great amusement in it.

Alcohol and mixer poured at the top and end up in your mouth at the bottom.

Bruce being a real sport!

Billy -the mastermind behind it all.

This past Friday night we went on our annual Bonge's trip. If you are not familiar with this restaurant check out the website. It is in the middle of no where in Perkinsville, Indiana. It has great food that you order of a chalk board and the restaurant is definitely not a looker. The fun of it is tailgating in the parking lot while waiting for your table. We always go with the same group of people, get reservations, assign Designated Drivers (this year the pregnant women fulfilled this duty), and tailgate in the parking lot. We had a great time and can't wait for next year. We got to see Peyton Manning. He was dining in the middle of no where too. We let him eat in peace but he gave us all a wave on the way out. If you ever have a chance to go, I definitely would not turn down the opprotunity.
Our tailgating group at Bonge's Tavern.

Some of us had more fun than the others. I can't say much though, this was me last year, actually she made it through dinner and I didn't last year. But it is all in good fun!

Baby Update!

We had our ultrasound on Friday. Everything looked good and we were so excited to see our wiggly baby. The baby was extremely active! The ultrasound estimated the baby's weight at 8oz and confirmed our due date of September 26Th. As planned, we did not find out if we were having a boy or a girl. Enjoy the pictures of our baby!

Visiting with Mia and Cadence!

Cadence and Mia
This weekend we had Scott's sister Christie and her family staying with us. Mia and Cadence are our nieces . They are 21 months and 4 yrs old respectively . They had lots of fun running around our house, following Berkley around, and playing on our stairs. Playing on the stairs was definitely the theme of the weekend. Here are some cute pictures from their visit.

The Beautiful Weekend!

We have really enjoyed the nice weather the past couple of days. Berkley is recovering from surgery and decided to spend some quality time relaxing on the deck. Her leg is about 85% back to normal and she is moving around much better. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks it will be back to nearly 100%.

Chilling on the deck

The dry warm weather gave us some days to get the yard final graded. The bulldozer worked all day on Friday and most of Saturday smoothing out our yard. Hopefully we will get grass planted this week and start the long process of growing a yard. It is amazing how much better it looks compared to before the grading. It actually looking like a yard not a construction site.

Weekend of Recovery

Berkley had surgery Thursday to repair her ACL on her back left leg. She had her right ACL repaired a couple of years ago. The recovery is going slow and she has spent most of the weekend laying around. After this surgery, she didn't get a cute hot pink bandage like last time. Friday night was a little rough and she was in a lot of pain. But after some pain meds and a good night of sleep, Berkley was feeling much better and starting to touch that paw to the ground. We are hoping for a quick and complete recovery.

The Easter bunny did bring Berkley a new Suspicious Chickie. Her Chickie has always been one of her favorite toys. The picture below shows a comparison of her old Chickie to her new Chickie. See how much Berkley loved the old Chickie. He doesn't even have any stuffing left.

A Baby Bulldog on the Way!

We are excited to announce that we are having a baby! I am 13 weeks pregnant. We had our first ultrasound at 8 weeks and got to hear the baby's heartbeat last week at our twelve week appointment. It is exciting to be through the first trimester and to be able to share our news with all of our friends and family. We have our next ultrasound scheduled for May 1st. We are excited to get a clearer view of our baby. We have decided that we are not going to find out the sex of the baby at our ultrasound. We are going to wait for the big surprise at the end! We have started looking for baby names but we are definitely struggling. So we will see how that whole process goes. It will be a fun next couple of months registering, getting the room ready, and watching me get fat!
